5 natural remedies to remove phlegm & mucus

When we have accumulated phlegm and mucus in the throat or nasal passages, it causes troubles breathing, persistent cough and tightness in the chest.

Fortunately, there are some natural remedies quickly eliminate phlegm and mucus:

Turmeric
Turmeric contains a component called curcumin which possess therapeutic properties. It fights bacteria, and when combined with salt, soothes infections and treats a sore throat.

Ingredients:
One teaspoon of turmeric
One glass of warm water
Half a teaspoon of salt

Directions:
Add one tbsp. of turmeric to the glass of warm water and then, add in the salt and stir well. You will need to drink this remedy three to four times a day, in order to reduce phlegm buildup in your throat and loosen the mucus.

Ginger
Ginger works as a natural decongestant as well as an antihistamine. It has powerful antiviral and antibacterial properties that work to strengthen the immune system and get rid of any illness

In order to soothe congestion, you should drink three to four cups of ginger tea, or chew several slices a day.

Ingredients:
Six to seven pieces of ginger
One teaspoon of honey
One teaspoon of black peppercorn
Two cups of water

Directions:
Heat the water in a pan, then add the ginger and peppercorns when starts to simmer. Cover it and then lower the heat. Leave it to simmer for five to seven minutes, strain it and then add the honey.

Apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is an extremely healthy natural medicine, which can regulate the pH balance in our bodies, thus preventing the excessive production of mucus.
To prepare the remedy, just add one teaspoon of unfiltered, raw ACV in a glass filled with water, and then drink this mixture three to four times a day. This will help you successfully remove phlegm.

Steaming
Steam can loosen up the mucus and phlegm in the throat, and this means that it can clear the airways. It will provide an instant relief by soothing the congestion.

Ingredients:
Half a teaspoon of dried rosemary
Half a teaspoon of thyme
Four to five cups of boiling water

Directions:
Take a bowl and pour hot water in it, add the herbs and then lean over it in order to inhale the steam. You can place a towel on your head, so that the vapors can go straight to your face. You will need to repeat this procedure 3-4 times a day.

Lemon and honey
Honey contains strong anti-fungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties that can effectively soothe the respiratory tract. The lemon on the other hand, contains large amounts of vitamin C.  This vitamin boosts our immunity and it clears the congested airways. This is a very powerful combination, that can treat cough and cold.

Ingredients:
Two tablespoons of lemon juice
One tablespoon of honey

Directions:
Just take a bowl and mix the honey and lemon juice and stir well.. This is a remedy that will help you relieve congestion, and it is recommended that you drink it 3 times a day.
